Hardwood flooring myths are about a dime a dozen, but how do you know which ones to believe? Regardless, hardwood flooring is still a popular flooring type, so let’s get started debunking some of the most well-known myths.
Myth #1: Hardwoods Are High Maintenance
For those who love the look of hardwoods but may be worried about their so-called “high” maintenance, you’ll be relieved to know that the upkeep is pretty straightforward. Sweeping the floor and running the vacuum to pick up dust will keep your hardwoods clean. You’ll need to mop the floor regularly, but that’s standard maintenance for most flooring types.
Myth #2: Hardwoods Scratch and Dent Easily
This specific myth is more complicated as hardwoods come in various levels of hardness. Hardwoods such as white oak are harder and resist everyday wear and tear. The best way to manage this myth is to ask your Flooring Design Center expert about hardwood strength levels, which will determine how prone they are to scratches and dents.
Myth #3: Hardwood Flooring Is Expensive
While hardwoods and installation may cost more than other types of flooring, the life of hardwoods can span up to 75 years or more! If you’re planning to live in your home for an extended period of time, then hardwoods are your best bet and a very wise investment choice!
Myth #4: Hardwoods Are Not for Any Room in The Home
This myth is a tricky one. Most think that hardwoods cannot be installed in kitchens or bathrooms, but that’s not necessarily true. Hardwoods should not be installed in areas of the home that are not climate controlled. If the ambient humidity and moisture levels are controlled in all rooms, you can opt for hardwood flooring.
